In Africa, SOS Faim supports programmes generated and implemented by local
partners with the aim to improve living conditions of resident populations
who are in charge of their own development. In particular SOS Faim supports
farmers’ organisations and rural microfinance
institutions, within
a genuine partnership and not merely aid. In order to
improve the quality of such support actions both SOS Faim
organizations
have created a joint
Partner Support Unit (PSU) for Africa.
In Luxembourg and in Europe , SOS Faim defends the interests of its partners through the organization of awareness campaigns, mobilizing the public with several joint publications (Défis Sud, Zoom Microfinance and Dynamiques Paysannes).
For these support and awareness raising activities, SOS Faim calls upon the generosity of the general public. Private donations received are supplemented by national and/or European public subsidies. SOS Faim is obliged to justify its expenses, and those of its partners, to the last cent. Fund raising operations of SOS Faim follow the rules of its Ethical Charter. All accounts are audited by an independent auditor. They are available on-line as well as in the annual activities report (pdf).
Currently the SOS Faim staff in Luxembourg consists of 7 persons and a number of volunteers. This team is working under the supervision of the Board of Administrators which itself is elected by the General Assembly, the supreme authority within of SOS Faim.
SOS Faim Luxembourg has special relations with its sister-organization, SOS Faim Belgium.
